This month we have a couple of very exciting things happening with CreativeMornings /Auckland:
1) It’s our one-year birthday! (And yes, there will be cake)
2) We’ve collaborated with Art Week Auckland to bring you Rob Garrett presenting on the development of his recent curatorial initiative “Lost in a dream”
“Lost in a dream” is an international contemporary art exhibition curated by Rob Garrett for Snake Pit, Auckland; 19 October – 10 November 2012
“Lost in a dream” brings together fourteen renowned and emerging artists from Australia, Germany, New Zealand, Russia, Sweden and the United States whose work has excited Rob Garrett. When invited by Snake Pit to curate a show, Garrett considered the most interesting prospect would be to introduce the gallery and its audiences to new artists. Snake Pit already has a strong programme of showing young local artists and several of Garrett’s recent Auckland projects also have had this focus. Therefore he felt it would be more interesting to go further afield by inviting several Northern Hemisphere and Australian artists, but also to include some local artists who are currently completely unknown.

Happy 3rd birthday, CreativeMornings!
Meanwhile in Auckland, NZ we’re having our 1 month birthday! I would just like to take this opportunity to say a big THANK YOU Tina and Kevin for your tireless support, and to an awesome team of people and friends that helped us launch last month… Looking forward to many more CreativeMornings to come!
What started as a humble 50-person event at Studiomates in 2009 has grown into a 17-chapter global adventure. When I first launched CreativeMornings people laughed and said no one will show up. Too early for New Yorkers. Well, I proved you wrong! We now average 250 creative folks that attend CreativeMornings/NewYork at 8.30am, one friday a month.
A big thank you goes out to my *amazing*, hardworking hosts and their team. You have to understand, everyone is working on volunteer basis. Impressive and humbling to say the least. CreativeMornings started as a reaction to the expensive and time-demanding conference world. I knew there had to be something more accessible and nimble. An event you could simply go to before heading to work. An event, that let’s you connect with people in your community. That’s what CreativeMornings stands for.

But for now, for the month of October, party along with us and tell us what we should do next! Do you have ideas for a speaker, host, venue or just simply a suggestion on how we should celebrate? Let us know! happybirthday.creativemornings.com
